Information about Fons històric de l'Hospital de la Santa Creu Database
Database that unifies the descriptions of the documentation of the ancient Hospital de la Santa Creu, divided between the Archive of the Biblioteca de Catalunya (BC) and the Historical Archive of the Hospital de Sant Pau (AHSCSP). The ancient Hospital is an institution created in 1401 by the city and the diocese of Barcelona, that has survived as a major center of assistance in Catalonia until the early XXth century, making it one of the oldest general hospitals of Europe. Its historical documentation, preserved to a large extent, embraces from the XII until the XX century and for its continuity and importance forms one of the most complete hospital archives of the occidental world.
