Founded in 1964 by Josep M. Castellet under the aegis of Edicions 62, Ediciones Península was created with the goal of becoming a benchmark publishing house for the humanities and social sciences. It is part of Grup 62, which is currently part of the Grupo Planeta.
+ informationIn November 2014, Edicions 62 agreed to deposit the collections from Edicions 62 and Editorial Empúries in the Biblioteca de Catalunya. This archive, which includes records of literary works, contains the originals (handwritten or typed, galley proofs, corrected proofs, etc.) of many of the works published by Edicions 62, Península and Empúries.

Founded in 1964 by Josep M. Castellet under the aegis of Edicions 62, Ediciones Península was created with the goal of becoming a benchmark publishing house for the humanities and social sciences. It is part of Grup 62, which is currently part of the Grupo Planeta.
Over its more than 50 years of existence, the publishing house has earned a reputation as a specialised imprint of not only works in the humanities and social sciences but also biographies, travel books and essays on international politics and cultural intervention.
First advertising catalogue of Ediciones Península
The authors published by this imprint reflected the range of themes it published and included historians, philosophers, poets, literary critics, sociologists and experts in the field of the social sciences.
Ediciones Península created numerous collections which reflected the founding mission of the publishing house in terms of both its topics and genres. Fiction, essays, literary criticism and commemorative literature, among others, are grouped together to reflect the range of the imprint’s themes. Historia, Ciencia i Sociedad was the first and most emblematic.

In 1973 Edicions Península created its only magazine: Papers. Revista de Sociologia.
The most outstanding works are on sociological analysis, literary criticism and travel chronicles. Julio Caro Baroja, Benito Pérez Galdós and John Steinbeck are leading authors in these topics.
