Biblioteca breve (1954-)

Created in 1954, Biblioteca Breve is one of Seix Barral's most important collections. The great commitment by Carlos Barral completely renovated the publishing house's catalogue and established the Biblioteca Breve prize in 1958. Many prestigious writers such as Pablo Neruda, Juan Marse, Guillermo Cabrera Infante and Eduardo Mendoza have been published in the collection. The publication in this collection of La ciudad y los perros by Mario Vargas Llosa opened the doors to authors in the so-called "Latin American boom".
