In the magnificent hall of the Stations of the Cross (Via Crucis), built at the end of the 17th century, is displayed a selection made among the 2000 pieces - manuscripts, parchments, printed texts, engravings, book bindings - donated by the sculptor Frederic Marès i Deulovol (1893-1991) to the Biblioteca de Catalunya. The documents exhibited cover a wide range of pieces, beginning with an 11th century parchment. Particularly highlighted is the embossed silver binding (probably 9th or 10th century), itself adorned with a 3rd century AD Roman medal. The display cases gather the documents according to their type: Parchments, manuscripts, printed texts (15th-18th centuries), engravings, book bindings (15th-20th centuries). The masterpiece dominating the far end wall is a gothic retable representing Blessed Ramon Llull, a donation of Frederic Marès as well. The surrounding walls are adorned with portraits of prominent Catalan thinkers and writers, sculpted by Frederic Marès himself.
