BIBFRAME

Started by the Library of Congress, BIBFRAME provides the foundation for the future of bibliographic description that happens on the web and in the networked world. Apart from being the substitute of MARC, BIBFRAME serves as a general model to express and connect bibliographic data. Another central focus of the initiative will be to determine a transition path from MARC21 formats while preserving a robust data exchange that has supported resource sharing and cataloging cost savings in recent decades.
