Llimona i Raymat, Mercè, 1914-1997

Mercè Llimona i Raymat (Barcelona 1914-1997). Illustrator of children's books. Daughter of the painter, Joan Llimona and niece of the sculptor, Josep Llimona. She created and illustrated more than fifty children's books, both for publishers in her own country and abroad. She contributed to several children's magazines such as Tretzevents and Cavall fort and she created drawings for prints and decorative Christmas carol score sheets.

She was president of the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc (Saint Luke Artistic Circle) and the Associació Professional d'Il·lustradors (Professional Association of Illustrators). Throughout her career, she received numerous awards and distinctions including the Creu de Sant Jordi (Saint George's Cross) in 1986.
