Català-Roca, Francesc, 1922-1998

Francesc Català-Roca (Valls, 1922- Barcelona, 1998) is considered the most important photographer of the twentieth century. Son of photographer Pere Català Pic and brother of photographer and historian, Pere Català i Roca. He worked primarily for magazines and publications such as La Vanguardia. In 1953, he organised his first solo exhibition, and was recognised with several awards and received the Creu de Sant Jordi (Saint George's Cross) from the Generalitat of Catalonia (1992) and the Medalla d'Or al Mèrit Artístic (1993).
