Pau Vila i Dinarès (Sabadell, 1881 - Barcelona, 1980). He was a Catalan teacher and renowned geographer. His great work is Divisió Territorial de Catalunya (1932 and 1937), commissioned by the Republican Generalitat.
In 1939, he was exiled to Colombia and lived in several countries in South America. He did not return to Catalonia until 1965. In 1969, he was made a member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies). In 1976, he received the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes and was awarded an honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
