Trens, Manuel, 1892-1976

Manuel Trens i Ribas (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1892-Barcelona, 1976) was a clergyman and art historian. He entered to the seminary of Barcelona where the 1914 he became a priest and in 1916 professor of sacred art and iconography. He was a director of the Museu Diocesà de Barcelona and counselor of the Cercle Arístic de Sant Lluc, where he created the Amics de l'Art Litúrgic. He promoted differents exhibitions of a religious character and collaborated in journals. In 1939 he founded the Arts Sacra to continue the legacy of Amics de l'Art Litúrgic. The collections for his fund it's preserved in the Biblioteca Pública Episcopal del Seminari de Barcelona and the bequest works of art at the Museu de les Cultures del Vi de Catalunya.
