Soldevila, Ferran, 1894-1971

Ferran Soldevila i Zubiburu (Barcelona, 1894-1971), brother of Carles Soldevila, was a Catalan writer and historian. Member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies) and the Acadèmia de Bones Lletres (Academy of Fine Arts) of Barcelona, Ferran was lecturer of Hispanic Literature at Liverpool. When he returned to Catalonia, he was appointed Professor of Catalan History at the Escola de Bibliotecàries (School of Librarians). Later, he was Professor of Catalan History at Estudis Universitaris Catalans. Between 1934-35, commissioned by Francesc Cambó, he wrote Història de Catalunya, with the aim of summarising the most important episodes in Catalan history.
