Manuel Milà i Fontanals (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1818-1884) is considered one of the driving forces of the Renaixença. Milà i Fontanals was a Catalan scholar and writer. He is known for his efforts in the restoration of the Floral Games and his contributions to the field of orthography. In his honour, the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies) created the Milà i Fontanals award.
