Miquel Martí i Pol (Roda de Ter, 1929-Vic, 2003) was one of the most important and popular poets of the twentieth century. His poems reflect the problems of the working class, as well as the struggle he fought against multiple sclerosis. Winner of the Creu de Sant Jordi (Saint George's Cross) and the Medalla d'Or from the Generalitat de Catalonia, Miquel Martí i Pol is the author of one of the best-selling books in Catalan literature, Estimada Marta (1978).
