John Le Carré is the pseudonym of the English writer, David John Moore Cornwell (Poole, Dorset, 1931). His novels, set in the context of Cold War, focus on the theme of espionage and they also contain much social criticism. One of Le Carré's most important characters is Agent George Smiley. Some of his novels are Smiley's People (1979), A Perfect Spy (1986) and A Most Wanted Man (2008).
