Gudiol, Josep, 1904-1985

Josep Gudiol i Ricart (Vic, 1904- Barcelona, 1985) he was art historian and architect. The nephew and pupil of the priest Josep Gudiol i Cunill. He has an extensive work dedicated to art, where it uses a method of analytical study of the work. Over the Civil War he took part in the rescue of the artistic heritage. He was appointed director of the Institut Amatller d'Art Hispànic and he conducted the Laietanes Galleries. He received the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
