Guillermo Cabrera Infante (Gibara, Cuba, 1929 - London, 2005), also known by the pseudonym, William Cain, was a novelist and playwright. He was a founding member of the Communist Party of Cuba. In literature, he worked on various genres, including novels, shorts stories and tales, reviews and cinema screenplays. His novel Tres Tristes Tigres (Three Trapped Tigers in English), won the Biblioteca Breve prize in 1965. In 1997, he was awarded the Cervantes Prize.
