Prudenci Bertrana i Comte (Tordera, 1867 - Barcelona, 1941). Modernist writer. He began as an editor at the magazine, Vida, where he wrote critiques on art, prose poetry and stories. He was involved in the restoring cultural life to Girona with the organisation of the Floral Games. In 1906 he published Josafat , his most famous novel and the one which made him as a renowned writer, although it caused scandal at the time due to his political career. He won several literary prizes, including the Joan Crexells award for L'hereu. In Barcelona, he directed L’Esquella de la Torratxa and La Campana de Gràcia, and he regularly contributed to La Veu de Catalunya.
