Vicki Baum (Vienna, 1888 - Hollywood, 1960). Austrian writer and screenwriter. She began writing professionally in 1926 as magazine editor at the publishers, Ullstein, in Berlin. She achieved fame in the late twenties, with the publication of the novel, Stud. chem. Helene Willfüer. From then on, she became one of the most successful writers of her generation, particularly known for Grand Hotel the screenplay of which she wrote for the cinema adaptation.
