In 1971, when Estela had expanded its catalogue to included Marxist and combative works and had published a biography of Francesc Vidal i Barraquer, the censors shuttered it. In 1972 it reappeared under the name of Laia.
This publishing house’s authors were primarily theologians or philosophers, such as Michel Quoist, Jacques Maritain and Joan Gomis.
Estela’s publishing output was grouped into around 40 collections, including Espiritualitat, Biblioteca Teològica del Seglar, El Món Avui, Conèixer la Bíblia, El Nus and Cristianismo y Tiempo.
