Ana María Matute i Ausejo (Barcelona, 1925- Barcelona, 2014) Catalan novelist in spanish language. She joined the Real Academia de la Lengua Española in 1988. She is considered one of the most prolific novelist in the 20th century with works of different literary genres such as Los Abel (1948),  Las luciérnagas (1949), Pequeño teatro (1954), En esta tierra (1955), Los hijos muertos (1958), Primera memoria (1960), de gran difusió, Los soldados lloran de noche (1967), La trampa (1969) i La torre vigía (1971).

Winner of  a lot of awards such as Café Gijón Prize (1952), Planeta Prize (1954), National Prize of Literature (1959), National Prize for Children's Literature (1984) or Cervantes Prize (2010), among others.
