Matheu, Francesc, 1851-1938

Francesc Matheu i Fornells (Barcelona, 1851 - Sant Antoni de Vilamajor, 1938) was a Catalan writer and publisher who was actively involved in the Catalan nationalist movement from a young age. He was one of the founders of the group, La Jove Catalunya, and he was an organiser of the Floral Games. As a publisher, he contributed to La Gramalla which later became La Renaixensa .
His personal papers are held in the Biblioteca de Catalunya, although some are preserved by the Museu d'Història de Barcelona (Barcelona History Museum).
