Josep Alsina i Bofill was born in 1904 in Palafrugell and he died in Calella de Palafrugell in 1993. Doctor. Among other positions he was president of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies) and the Acadèmia de Ciències Mèdiques de Catalunya (Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia).
In 1982 he was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi (Saint George's Cross).
